WoW Patch 12.1.5 Lands October 13 — and What It Means If You Play on a Private Server
Blizzard confirmed on September 29 that Midnight's 12.1.5 content update arrives October 13, closing the Quel'Thalas and Zul'Aman arc — here's the retail timeline and where each expansion lives on the private side.

Midnight's 12.1.5 Arrives October 13
best World of Warcraft servers
Blizzard put a date on Midnight's next content update. According to Blizzard's own announcement and Wowhead's coverage of it, patch 12.1.5 — titled The Promise of Tomorrow — goes live October 13, 2026 for North America and October 14 for EU, arriving with the weekly maintenance window. Blizzard confirmed the date on September 29, which is the freshest hard fact on the retail calendar this week.
This is a mid-season update, not the Eclipse package. If you have been following the 12.2 talk from BlizzCon, that is a separate, later release; 12.1.5 is the patch that closes out the current chapter of the Midnight story rather than opening the next one.
What Is Actually in the Patch
Pulled from Blizzard's announcement and the PTR coverage that came before it:
- A new one-boss raid: The Unbinding of Kith'ix. A single-encounter raid tier, not a full instance.
- Labyrinths, including the Labyrinth of Kindo'jan — described in Blizzard's post as a nine-chamber, Delve-like challenge. It is the first full iteration of the Labyrinth format.
- The conclusion of the Quel'Thalas and Zul'Aman storyline, under the campaign banner The Promise of Tomorrow.
- Aqir Invasions — an outdoor event.
- Ascendant Venomstones, a new power/upgrade system.
- Keystone Myth and a mid-Season 2 gear refresh, with higher item levels.
- A pre-patch quest hook. Timesaver's launch checklist notes that the Nebulous Voidcore chain from Orin Straylight in Silvermoon City starts the week of October 6, and that banking it early matters for your weekly bonus-roll coin.
Attribution matters here, and so does a caveat: these details come from Blizzard's announcement text as surfaced in reporting and community coverage, not from hands-on play. The date is the solid part. Treat every number attached to rewards or item levels as provisional until the patch is live.
If you are on retail and want to be ready on day one, the practical window is the week of October 6, not October 13. The chain exists, it is time-gated, and starting it late costs you the roll.
Why This Matters on the Private Server Side
Here is the pattern that repeats every expansion: a mid-season patch lands, the raid tier is short, and the inevitable mid-tier lull follows. One-boss raids in particular burn out fast, and once a season's catch-up is exhausted, a predictable slice of the retail population starts looking at older versions again.
We track 88 approved WoW private servers, all of them linkable — meaning every one of them has a real page you can open, not a placeholder. What that list shows is a scene that has organized itself almost entirely around version choice rather than around novelty. If you want a specific expansion, someone runs it well. That is the actual state of play.
Where Each Version Lives Right Now
| Server | Version | Flags | Trust | VIP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Warmane | WotLK (Icecrown, Lordaeron) plus TBC and MoP | Blizzlike, PvP, High Rate | 30 | VIP_3 |
| Stormforge | Mists of Pandaria | PvE, Blizzlike | 30 | VIP_2 |
| WoW Circle | Realms for almost every expansion | High Rate, PvP, Fun Server | 29 | VIP_2 |
| Firestorm | Battle for Azeroth | High Rate, Fun Server | 29 | VIP_2 |
| Tauri | Progressive, Blizzlike | PvE, Blizzlike | 29 | VIP_2 |
| Whitemane | Mists of Pandaria | PvP, Blizzlike, High Rate | 29 | VIP_2 |
| Endless | The Burning Crusade | Progressive, PvP, Blizzlike | 29 | VIP_1 |
| Sunwell | Wrath of the Lich King | WotLK, Stable, PvP | 29 | VIP_1 |
Some notes that the flags do not capture on their own:
Warmane is the largest and longest-running of the group, and the Wrath realms (Icecrown and Lordaeron) are the draw — well-tuned PvE raids and a mature PvP scene, with TBC and MoP available if you want something else.
Stormforge is the Atlantiss–Tauri partnership, and it is a MoP server first and foremost. If you are chasing the expansion that the retail calendar is nowhere near revisiting, this is the highest-trust entry point, tied with Warmane at a trust score of 30.
Tauri is the other MoP name, and the distinction between the two is worth knowing: Tauri is the script-heavy progressive project, with boss scripting and endgame tuning as its stated focus.
Whitemane runs MoP too, but with far higher rates and a heavier PvP emphasis — a different product aimed at a different player.
Sunwell and Endless are the single-version specialists. Sunwell runs on WotLK via SunwellCore, explicitly aiming at the 2009 feel; Endless is TBC with high rates and an alt-friendly, progressive structure.
WoW Circle and Firestorm are the "something for everyone" networks. Circle carries realms across nearly every expansion; Firestorm is built on Battle for Azeroth with seasonal realms. Both are funserver-flagged, which tells you what to expect from the tuning.
What Is Trending This Week
Trending movement does not always match trust score, and that gap is informative:
- Dalaran WoW — rank 1, score 10.78
- Stormforge — rank 2, score 10.40
- Everlook — rank 3, score 8.93
- Warmane — rank 4, score 8.89
- WoW Circle — rank 5, score 8.36
Stormforge sitting second on momentum while also holding the top trust tier is the notable combination — that is not a server riding a hype spike, it is one with sustained attention. Dalaran WoW outranking everything on movement is the other signal.
How to Choose, Honestly
The retail patch does not change your private-server decision; it changes the timing of when you might make one. If you are on the fence:
- Wrath is your version → Warmane or Sunwell, depending on whether you want scale or simulation.
- MoP is your version → Stormforge or Tauri for a Blizzlike ride, Whitemane if you want it fast.
- TBC → Endless.
- You want to sample everything → WoW Circle, or Firestorm for BfA specifically.
