Aion 2's First Global Playtest, and What It Still Leaves to Private Servers
SOLIDFPS streamed Day 1 of AION 2's Launch Scale Test, the first global window Western Daevas got. Here is what the footage is actually good for — and where to play Aion today while the retail build is wiped and waiting.
AION 2's First Global Playtest, and What It Means for Atreia
On 17 September 2026, NCSoft opened AION 2's Launch Scale Test to players outside Korea for the first time: a two-day window, capped at level 37, wiped the moment it ended. SOLIDFPS streamed the first day of it — 🔴Aion 2 / AION2 Global Playtest Day 1 — and it is worth watching for the one thing patch notes never show you: how the combat actually reads under load, and how fast a full zone of Daevas turns into a queue.
Read it for that, not for progress. Nothing in that build survives. It was an infrastructure test — a crowd simulation with wings — and the characters you watch get deleted. Early Access follows, then the global launch in October. Anything you learn about gearing from a two-day capped test is a rumour with a countdown attached.
Which is the old problem for anyone who actually likes this game. Retail Aion 2 is not out yet, and when it is, it will be paced the way NCSoft paces things. The private scene, meanwhile, has spent years doing the opposite: keeping the versions people ask for alive, at rates people choose.
That spread is real. Our Aion section runs everything from 2.7 and 3.0 era builds through 4.6, 4.8, 5.8 and 7.x Classic, split across low, mid and high rate servers.
If you want the retail-shaped version, United Aion 4.8 PvPvE Retail-like is what it says on the tin. Beyond Aion 4.8 - since 2015 has been running that version since 2015 with no VIP and no Gold Pack. Legendary Aion 5.8 covers the later era. For the classic end, HiveGamez Aion - Classic runs 7.x without pay-to-win, and Elden Aion - 3.9 Retail - Europe - High Quality - High Online sits in the older retail space.
Play the test if it opens again. In the meantime, pick a version that will still be there next month. The rest of the coverage lives at Aion news.
