• Low rate (1x–5x or so): The grind is real, the economy matters, and reaching transcendence feels like an achievement. Best for competitive, economy-driven players who want a scene that lasts.
• Mid rate: A compromise. Progress has a pulse but isn't a second job, and the server still respects the game's mechanics.
• High rate: You spend more time playing and less time grinding. Great for PvP-focused players who want to build a character and start fighting.

Its low rate and pre-Renewal ruleset make it the pick for purists who want a slow, steady grind with a mature economy.

If you want Pre-Renewal but with a bit more pace, Talon Tales is worth a look — a mid-rate Pre-Renewal server that's been running for years, with an active War of Emperium scene drawing competitive guilds. It's essentially the Talon-style philosophy at a friendlier pace.

Classic with soul lives on Alfheim and UARO. Alfheim is a progressive Pre-Renewal server with unique rebalancing, which means the rules are tuned intentionally rather than just left at 2004 defaults — good for people who want the classic feel but don't mind a few modernisations. UARO is the fast-growing option, a classic low-rate server with an intense WoE scene; if you want a fresh, competitive home where the castle fights are the point, it's the one to watch.

On the high-rate side, Shining Moon RO offers both Renewal and Pre-Renewal mechanics with extensive customisation — rare flexibility for players who want to switch between the two rulesets without changing home. And BlackoutRO is the legendary high-rate pick, but built entirely around PvP and WoE. If your idea of a good evening is maxing a character fast and then fighting, Blackout is tuned exactly for that.

If you follow the Korean patches

Some players want their Ragnarok to track the official Korean server patch-for-patch. For that, MuhRO is the standout — a frequently-updated mid-rate Renewal server that follows kRO. When new content lands in Korea, this is where you'll see it mirrored, which makes it the pick for players who want to stay current with what's actually happening in the game's source ecosystem.
