TERA's official PC servers went dark on June 30, 2022, across every region — Europe, North America, Russia and Southeast Asia — and the Steam page was delisted. The studio behind the console version, Krafton, has said it does not recognize any private server and holds no agreement with any of them. Yet the game's signature action combat — manual aiming, dodging, no tab-targeting — still has a dedicated following, and a handful of private servers keep it alive.

If you are searching for a TERA private server in 2026, the first thing to understand is that they are not interchangeable. They split along two axes that decide almost everything about your experience: PvE vs PvP and classic vs custom patch. Here is how to read those choices and what is actually running right now.

The two axes that decide your server

PvE vs PvP. TERA's endgame is dungeon-focused, so most servers lean PvE: you progress through instanced dungeons, raids and gear tiers. PvP servers add battlegrounds, open-world wars and duels, and usually tune gear progression so you can enter PvP without grinding PvE first. Decide which you want before you look at rates — a PvE server with a quiet battleground queue is a poor home for a PvP player, and vice versa.

Classic vs custom. Classic servers run an older patch (roughly v31-v46) and aim to reproduce the game as it was in its prime, often with no Apex power layer. Custom servers run a newer client (v100.02) and rebuild classes, dungeons and systems from the mechanics that played best across TERA's versions. Classic is for players who want the game they remember; custom is for players who want a rebalanced, actively developed take on it.

What the rates actually mean

TERA private server rates mainly affect experience and dungeon rewards. Since endgame is dungeon-focused, rates determine how quickly you reach max level and start gearing. A low-rate server stretches the leveling journey; a high-rate server gets you to endgame fast. Most servers publish their XP and drop rates on their site — check them before committing, because they change the feel of the whole game.

The servers running in 2026

The TERA community's own list (maintained on the r/TeraOnline subreddit) counts six active PC servers. Four of them are listed on GameListZone with full details:

• TERA Starscape — the most popular PvE server, running patch 100.02 on a 64-bit client, hosted on the US West Coast. It offers free premium elite benefits and re-enables a large number of old dungeons. The best pick if you want a populated PvE home with a modern client.
• TERA Asura — the oldest TERA server still running, launched July 1, 2021. It transitioned from the 32-bit v92 client to 64-bit v100.02 in June 2025. It is a custom PvP server with non-target combat, all races and classes, and a primarily Russian-speaking community with English announcements.
• TERA Europe Classic+ — a European server running the Classic+ ruleset on client v100.02, with dungeons, PvP, rebuilt classes and its own launcher. Classic+ keeps the combat and world structure people remember while pulling skills and mechanics from the versions where they felt best.
• Arborea Reborn — a rebuilt classic hosted in Strasbourg, France, with fast-paced combat, custom dungeons and fully rebalanced classes. It is the trending pick for players who want a fresh, exclusive take on the classic world.

Two more appear on the community list but are not yet on GameListZone: Old School TERA Online (OSTO), a classic server on patch 31.04 hosted in Virginia, and Evervyn, a custom server on patch 100.02 hosted on the US West Coast.

How to choose

• You want a populated PvE home with a modern client → TERA Starscape.
• You want the oldest, most established server with a PvP focus → TERA Asura.
• You are in Europe and want a classic ruleset on a modern client → TERA Europe Classic+.
• You want a rebuilt classic with fresh, exclusive content → Arborea Reborn.
• You want a pure classic patch (v31) with no custom rebalancing → look at OSTO.

A note on the future

Krafton is developing TERA 2, a new Unreal Engine 5 MMORPG with non-targeted combat and a focus on party hunting, directed by Kang Sang-wook, one of the people behind the original. It is early in development with no release window — for now it is a promise, not a plan. Until it ships, private servers are the only way to play TERA on PC, and the ones above are the active options.
