Tier Sets Are the Real Test of a Private Server
A quick look at the new class tier sets for World of Warcraft: Forever, and what they say about picking a realm that can actually deliver the endgame.
Tier Sets Are the Real Test of a Private Server
Vuxxy | WoW Forever's Every New Class Tier Set in WoW Forever! is a fast tour of all nine classes' armor, and you can watch it for the art or for the argument. The art is easy. The argument is why tier sets matter more than most players admit when they are picking a realm.
A tier set is a promise a private server has to keep. Three things must line up before your class set is worth chasing: the itemization has to exist in the patch stage the realm is running, the bosses have to drop it from the right script, and the set bonuses have to actually fire. Fail any one of those and you get the worst outcome in this hobby, a set that looks correct in a preview video and does nothing the moment you wear it.
That is the difference between servers, more than population or marketing. On the Wrath-era realms, tier is the whole endgame. Warmane runs its polished Wrath realms in Icecrown and Lordareon with tuned raids, and Sunwell takes the opposite approach, aiming to mimic the expansion as it played in 2009 on an actively developed core. If you want TBC sets with a faster climb, Endless is built around high rates and alt-friendly progression. For Mists of Pandaria the two names worth your time are Stormforge, the Atlantiss and Tauri partnership, and Whitemane, which keeps its focus on raiding and PvP at no cost.
Then there are the networks. WoW Circle covers nearly every expansion across one large platform, and Firestorm centers on Battle for Azeroth with seasonal realms. Tauri is the choice for anyone who values script-heavy, progressive content over instant gratification.
So before you roll a class because of a set video, decide which expansion's tier you actually want to farm, then find the realm that scripts it honestly. Start from our World of Warcraft news section.
