LU4 Carmine Shows Lineage 2 Running on Unreal Engine

TheClots' footage of the LU4 Carmine realm is the clearest look yet at E-Global's Lineage 2 rebuild on Unreal Engine — and a reminder that client fidelity and server rules are separate questions.

LU4 Carmine Puts Lineage 2 on Unreal Engine, and That Is All It Claims

Two decades in, one thing about Lineage 2 is no longer arguable: the client everyone still plays was never the part that aged gracefully. LU4, the E-Global project, is the attempt to do something about it — the same game, moved to Unreal Engine. The video above is TheClots' pass through the Carmine realm, and it is more useful than a roadmap post because you can watch it rather than be promised it.

Read it as a client project, not a new economy. It does not answer the questions that decide whether a realm survives — rates, wipe policy, whether the population holds past the first winter. What it removes is the excuse. Systems that already earned their reputation no longer have to be read through a camera that fights you on every turn.

That distinction matters when you choose where to spend a season. Lineage 2 on GameListZone covers Interlude, High Five, Classic, Essence, Ertheia and Freya, and the realms behind those labels differ more than the list suggests.

Asterios runs Interlude as a long-term international project: balanced PvP, a mature economy, no heavy donation advantages. Scryde is the High Five heavyweight, with thousands of active players and a stable economy. L2Dex pushes Interlude+ content through seasons while advertising no wipes and no bots. L2Reborn goes low rate and PTS across multiple chronicles, explicitly without pay-to-win. L2Ketra takes the opposite road — Interlude, high rates, built around competitive faction play.

Compare them on the Lineage 2 hub and its news section.

None of these realms need a better renderer to work. All of them benefit from no longer having to apologise for the one they shipped with.
