Mojang's next drop, Chaos Cubed (version 26.2), releases on June 16, 2026, continuing the new cadence of smaller, more frequent updates. This one digs underground. Here is what is coming and how to handle update day if you mostly play on servers.
What is in Chaos Cubed
This follows March's Tiny Takeover (26.1), which gave every baby mob a unique model, added the golden dandelion and made name tags craftable. Next in line is Dappled Forest (26.3) in Q3 with a new forest biome, and a native Bedrock release for Nintendo Switch 2 later in the year with Vibrant Visuals support.
Why your server will not update on day one
Most multiplayer servers do not run vanilla software. They run Paper, Purpur, Fabric or Forge with dozens of plugins or mods, and every one of those needs to be rebuilt and tested against 26.2 before a server can safely upgrade. The usual rhythm looks like this:
